Zouma train rumours false
In the lead up to their crunch Champions League match with PSG, Chelsea have released a statement reiterating that Kurt Zouma is missing from tonight’s squad because he is in fact injured. This is contrary to reports of him ‘not being allowed on the Eurostar’.
Rumours that the imposing centre back had been denied entry onto the train to Paris by members of the Chelsea fanbase, were propagated by number of revered social media banticians this morning.
However it would now appear that this was nothing more than a hackneyed reference to the racially motivated incident involving PSG fan Souleymane Sylla and several Chelsea supporters prior to last season’s meeting between the two teams.
“Chelsea Football Club wish to make clear that our medical team have diagnosed that Kurt sustained an injury to his anterior cruciate ligament during our Premier League game against Manchester United.
Kurt is expected to be out for approximately six months. Your gags about him not being allowed on the Eurostar are false, a bit racist in themselves, and more to the point, shite. This goes equally for any jokes about reserve goalkeeper Jamal Blackman.
Also, the squad flew to France.”
Further rumours that several Chelsea players are devastated that John Terry will not be travelling to Paris, and instead ‘staying home with all the WAGs’, have yet to be denied.
